Course description

Real life is neither fragmented nor separated up in parcels, for this reason if we aspire to set in motion real learning experiences for our student body then we need to change the prevailing culture of distinct subjects invariably cut up into equal slots of time. This culture, which has been established and handed down over decades at schools, gives rise on many occasions to a student body that does not understand why it needs certain knowledge, since it has been taken out of context and real life.

Area-based learning sets out to address this need to give meaning to each and every action made in the classroom, thus equipping pupils with the necessary means to transfer said knowledge to the world they live in.

This course provides keys to designing area-based learning experiences, accompanying teachers to make a learning situation that can be implemented in the classroom.
